BUTTERED RAMEN
by J. Love,
broke college student

NOTE: Broke college student, J. Love, writes: "Hi. I really liked your page on college food, but I felt there was one item missing. My roommate and I have been eating this stuff ever since we started school. The recipe for our "Buttered Ramen" is as follows..."

INGREDIENTS:

  • Lots o' ramen (Smack ramen is reccomended)
  • A few sticks of butter or margarine

  •
PROCEDURE:

Boil some water.

Add ramen bricks. You should use at least two bricks per person being served. After the ramen is nice and soft, drain off all of the water. All of it. You want no water diluting your precious food. Then add 1.5 tablespoons of butter per ramen brick. Stir like a mad ape until the butter has melted and is thoroughly mixed with the ramen. Then sprinkle the flavor dust over your ramen. It actually helps the taste if you mix two or more flavors of dust in your noodles. If prepared correctly, it should look a sickly yellow/brown color, maybe with a few green green flecks here and there.

Now eat it up, yum! This stuff will sit in your stomach like nothing else. You won't have to eat for a WEEK, I guarantee. Serve with Pepsi, or any other cola of your choice. If you get adventurous, you can sprinkle lime or lemon juice over the noodles.

The beauty of this dish is its incredible cheapness. You can serve 10 people for less than five bucks. Perfect for the broke student!

Believe me, it tastes a lot better than you'd think.
