G-L
GALLOWAY, GEOFF
Affiliation: Group H
A smart kid who found a portion of 5thMatter and cared for it in 1992.  He and his friends Brian Parker and Kelly Niland are charter members of a neighborhood club called Group H.  They have known one another since their first grade year at Codling Elementary School.  (See: Group H, Brian Parker, Kelly Niland.)
GANGBUSTERS
Operated from 1994- Present Day.  Brothers Jimmy and Billy Bruce Busby were the only sons of John Busby, an ex-military man who had been the subject of a Vietnam era government super-soldier experiment, who grew up under the tutelage of John's friend and martial arts expert Mr. Ng.  When black ops commandos stormed their Arkansas farm to learn why Plastique and Tire Tool had been seen exhibiting super-human abilities, John and Ng told the boys to go to flee to Langley, Ohio, and seek the help of Ng's fellow London Hill operative Morris Gleason.  Instead, they found Gleason's replacement, a London Hill operative named Bizmarck who had been sent to Langley to find the missing Gleason.  Along with established Langley vigilante, Trashman, and assistant district attorney, Kira (insert last name here,) the group of them became involved in an investigation into Chess-related gang activity in Langley as well as the burning deaths of numerous homeless people.  Just as they seemed to be making headway in the case, Plastique and Tire Tool were captured by government agents-Plastique first, and then Tire Tool during a failed rescue attempt of his brother.  In their absence, and in need of muscle due to ever increasing threats against them, Bizmarck, Kira and Trashman recruited legendary Langley hero Midnight as well as a newly arrived Native American mercenary called Neshoba to form a new alliance called the Gangbusters.  It was, unfortunately, short lived, as both Midnight and Kira vanished mysteriously.  Meanwhile, Tire Tool, escaped his captors and returned to Langley.  It seemed that Chess attacked his transport train looking to capture him, but he slipped away in the confusion.  As unluck would have it, though, an old and previously thought to be dead friend of Bizmarck's, Mossley, was sent by London Hill's new and evil leader, Durmont, to kill him.  The plan failed, but not without catapulting Bizmarck back through time to the year 1924.  He sought help from former London Hill leader Gareth Marter, who was in that year living in New Auckland operating as the vigilante named Mr. Fear.  Marter, along with Jacob Sand, took Bizmarck to a woman named Omega who was able to aid Bizmarck in getting almost nearly back to his proper time.  Instead he came up two years short, exiting in 1992 due to a slip up with Avatar III.  Bizmarck decided to keep a low profile, but eventually couldn't resist the temptation to try and prevent the coup of London Hill and death of his friend Gareth Marter from occurring by recruiting Gleason to come with him and help (explaining Gleason's disappearance.) They failed, but were able to save John Busby, Mr. Ng  and Plastique from the black ops agents.  They returned to Langley just after Bizmarck's former self's encounter with Mossley, teamed with the remaining Gangbusters, were able to solve the various mysteries that plagued them there and then went on to overthrow Durmont's coup.  As of 1994, Gleason became the new head of London Hill with Mr. Ng and John Busby as his seconds in command.  Bizmarck returned to Langley with Tire Tool, Plastique, Lau Chin and Trashman.  (See: John Busby, Philip Durmont, Mr. Fear, Midnight, Neshoba, Trashman, Plastique, Tire Tool, Mr. Ng, London Hill, Gleason, Bizmarck, Gangbusters.)
GAUGE
Identity: James "Majik" Martin.
A.K.A.  Prodigy, Maniac, Bruiser, Impulse, Gauge
Affiliation: Avatar III
College age writer, James Martin, was injured in an automobile crash and spent several months in a coma.  During this time, his mind then split into a number of separate personalities, each based on a character he had imagined as a kid, some of whom were to be used in a comic book project he had been working on.  What was more, these personalities—Prodigy, a child-genius who could build elaborate technological devices in seconds; Maniac, an angry punk kid who rode on a hover-board and liked to cause trouble; and Bruiser, a hulking 400 pound man who could lift tremendous weight and who enjoyed reading Tolstoy—began manifesting themselves both mentally and physically, replacing James' body when the whim arose and carrying on lives of their own until another personality snapped into place.  James' own personality developed some superhuman abilities of its own, allowing him telekinetic powers.  Under the name Skitso, he became a superhero and soon formed a crime-fighting duo with New Auckland hero and fellow college student, Bluestreak.  Shortly after the Mercy Gang began attacking local Mafia bosses, Skitso and Bluestreak agreed to help the NAPD protect the remaining bosses.  When the Mercy Gang attacked the house that Avatar III was guarding, Bluestreak and Skitso raced in to assist, helping save Mobius life in the process.  After this, they were the first local heroes to be asked to join Avatar III to help fill out their ranks.  In mid-1992, after an attack by the being called Calhoun, Skitso's personalities briefly merged into one amalgamated form, sending Skitso into a coma.  With the aid of Madam Z, he was able to separate them into their individual components.  However, he also discovered there were hundreds of other personalities waiting in the wings, including a new one called Impulse, who could manipulate kinetic energy.  After Bruiser died in battle, Impulse rose to take his place.  In late 1994, Skitso experienced another mental attack which caused his personalities once again to merge.  This time instead of splitting them, Skitso emerged from his coma and kept the new amalgamated form, which promptly named itself Gauge.  Gauge takes Prodigy's ability to manipulate technology, channeling it into creating new types of weaponry, specifically guns.  He takes much of Maniac's attitude and much of Impulse's physical stature.  It remains to be discovered if we've seen the last of his older personalities. (See Avatar III, Calhoun.)
GERGAN, NORMAN
Affiliation:  Forty Thieves
Status: Retired.
Was the scatter-gun man for the group.  After the group split up in 1970 he moved in with his girlfriend, Rochelle Hills, for a few years before returning to his childhood home in Langley, OH, leaving wife and child behind.  (See: Curry.)
GIZMO
Identity:  Robert Shillingsburg
Affiliation: former member of Avatar III

(See: Avatar III, SILO Special Operations Unit.)
GLEASON
Full Name: Morris Gleason
Affiliation: London Hill
Morris Gleason was a London Hill operative who rose to near legendary status.  No one was ever quite certain why he was so legendary, though.  He was quite intelligent and an excellent agent, sure, but there were plenty of other agents who were as good who were not as well esteemed.  And granted, he had received training under the tutelage of the nearly as legendary, but with more stories to back it up, Mr. Ng, but few ever considered that there was little explanation for Gleason's surge in respect, admiration and even fear, often all three at the same time.  When Mr. Ng retired in the early 1960's, Gleason became one of the foremost operatives in the organization, picking his own missions as he pleased.  He eventually relocated to the United States and set up a headquarters in Langley, Ohio, where he kept tabs on the activity within the Algonquian Triangle and set up his own citywide network of contacts, including Trashman, Midnight and Howard, all of whom were enamored with him.  And he became legendarily feared among the criminal element in Langley, though no one could say why, for certain.  In fact, the only person who ever appeared immune to Gleason's nearly otherworldly charm was a young London Hill operative named Bizmarck, who, ironically, was sent to Langley to replace Gleason after the older agent vanished mysteriously just one month prior to a  coup de tat of the London Hill organization itself.  The new head of London Hill, Philip Durmont, began using the organization for decidedly sinister purposes, including sending agents loyal to him out to capture members of The Ten.  Durmont's tenure was short lived.  His followers world wide began find their efforts thwarted by unseen forces.  After Bizmarck disappeared later in the year, Gleason came out of hiding along with an alliance of resistance fighters, including Mr. Ng, John Busby, Plastique and even a slightly older version of Bizmarck himself.  They overthrew Durmont in early 1995.  Gleason was then voted leader of London Hill by the remaining members and serves as such to this day.  (See: Philip Durmont, Mr. Fear, Midnight, Neshoba, Plastique, Tire Tool, Mr. Ng, London Hill, Gleason, Bizmarck, Gangbusters, The Ten.)
GLIDE
Identity: Marcus Vowell.
Affiliation: Former member of Avatar III now affiliated with Crescent City Four.
Operated as Wavefront from 1994-1996.  Operated as Glide from 1997 - Present.  The hero now known as Glide began his heroic career as a completely different hero, Wavefront.  Marcus Vowell grew up in a family with a long history of bizarre powers or quirks, some more spectacular than others.  His cousin Clint, for instance, had the ability to move from shadow to shadow as though they were doors.  And his brother Chris had the ability to feel the entire "emotional record" of a person's life when he got close enough to them.  After a while the strain of the flood of emotion became too much for Chris to deal with and late one Sunday evening he took his own life.  For years Marcus regarded his family's "supergene" as the sole cause of his brother's death, but decided to come to terms with his own power, the ability to manipulate and control water.  Marcus enrolled at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, where he was able to find plenty of water as well as deserted areas to practice his control over it.  His favorite uses for it included a tight needle stream he has deemed the "Water Pik", a massive gushing area torrent he called "The Hose", a whirling "Cyclone Shield" that protects him, and a wall of water he uses to deflect projectiles. Gradually, Marcus began putting his power to heroic use, taking the name Wavefront.  During this time, he began to hear of a suspicious scientific research complex in the arctic wilderness and decided to investigate it.  However, he was captured by the installation's security and found himself a prisoner of SILO Labs.  Coincidentally, Avatar III was visiting SILO's Alaska branch at the time, investigating the problems of Project Dream.  Wavefront made himself useful in assisting Avatar during their missions there and the team eventually offered him membership.  Wavefront relocated to New Auckland, VA where he spent two years with the team, helping them drive the influence of Chess from the city and largely the world.  Just when they thought Chess was gone completely, though, Marcus found himself kidnapped by Chess operatives in 1996.  He was subjected to weeks of torturous experiments that served to remove his superhuman control of water and diminish his supergene.  He escpaed from Chess, but his psyche was badly damaged by the abuse.  Marcus returned to New Auckland only briefly to resign from Avatar and from his heroic life as Wavefront.  He wandered the country for months before leaving for Europe.  There he was approached by a secret German Science Organization intent on testing some new Phasing Technology.  Marcus signed up as a test subject for their phasing/invisibility suit and found he was perfectly suited to it.  For a time he became an international agent of espionage, code named Glide, in service to this organization.  Eventually, he began to suspect the organization of more crimes than espionage and departed their service, taking the suit with him.  He relocated to Crescent City, LA, where he has recently begun operating with a team of other southern heroes, including his former Avatar III teammate, Pinpoint. (See: Avatar III, Shade, Crescent City Four.)
GREEN SCORPION I
Identity: Henry Carter.
Affiliation: Avatar I
Status: Deceased
Operated from 1911-1932.  While in route to a costume party in October of 1911, bartender Henry Carter and his girl-friend Rose were witnesses to a robbery.  Feeling civic duty calling, Henry, wearing a full head, green mask and a black suit covered by a green trench coat, thrashed the perpetrators severely and bound them up for the police.  He saw the advantages to having a local citizen fighting crime.  Because he was a bartender he over-heard conversations about crimes before they happened.  Taking inspiration from New Auckland's first hero, the Swashbuckler, Henry used his party costume and over the following months began cleaning up the neighborhood as the Green Scorpion.  Henry eventually met the Swashbuckler and the two began fighting crime together from 1912-1916, becoming fast friends.  It was in 1916 that adventurer Jacob Sand suggested that a team of local heroes be formed.  This was called Avatar.  The team lasted until 1927, when the Swashbuckler retired and the rest of them began thinking about settling down.  Henry, who was by this time married to Rose, and who now had a son, Peter, continued to fight crime in his spare time.  In 1932, he received a tip that Mirage was going to destroy a down-town hotel as revenge on its owner.  Trying to prevent this, Green Scorpion was killed by a collapsing floor while saving some hotel patrons.  He carried a specially painted green gun which he called Sting.  (See: Avatar I, Mirage.)
GREEN SCORPION II
Identity: Peter Carter
Affiliation: Avatar II
Status: Retired
Operated from 1948-1970.  Used a bullet-proof version of his father's costume.  He briefly wore a different costume that was built for him by Bluebird.  The second version had a tail with a gun mounted on the end of it but the targeting was always off so he abandoned it in favor of a third costume that used gas-guns with back mounted tanks.  He left Avatar II with his wife, Lady Blade I, to form the Los Angeles based team the Angels in 1962.  Retired from active heroics in 1970, but remained as advisor to the team..  His son has continued the tradition in the Angels.  (See:  Green Scorpion I; Green Scorpion III; Lady Blade I; Bluebird; Angels; Avatar II.)
GREEN SCORPION III
Identity: Alexander Carter
Affiliation: Angels
Operated from 1989 - Present.  The son of Peter Carter, the second Green Scorpion, and Emily Glass Carter, the original Lady Blade.  Alex, in association with SILO Labs, designed a suit of armor that allowed him enhanced strength, heightened senses and a tail with a variety of beam weapons mounted on it.  His suit also grants him techno-empathy, a feature designed by Bluebird herself.  He took up the name Green Scorpion and currently fights crime with the Los Angeles based super-group, the Angels.  (See: Angels; Lady Blade I; Green Scorpion II; SILO Labs.)

HANNA, STEPHEN
President-appointed head of the Super-human Activities Commission.  (See:  S.H.A.C.)
HEGLEWOOD, DR. BERNARD
Status: Deceased
Scientist and mentor of Arnold Asgould, alias Archneid.  They created a formula that would chemically  increase a person's strength, agility, reflexes and perceptive abilities to super-human levels, mirroring the chemical processes observed during outbursts by mental patients.  Due to losing university funding for the project at a critical juncture, Dr. Heglewood accepted a sponsorship offer from Chess.  Asgould discovered this and was forced to use the serum to defend their lab against Chess.  Confronted as to his new loyalties, Heglewood attempted to escape from Asgould by drinking his own serum.  The two fought until Heglewood, rather than surrender, leapt into the bay and appeared to drown.  Asgould, determined to use the serum for good, became the super hero Archneid.  But he soon learned that the serum was degrading his mind as well as addicting him to it.  Word reached him of that Heglewood had survived and was working for a drug cartel in South America.  Confronted again, Heglewood revealed that he had refined the serum's formula, eliminating the addictive properties.  He offered to share it in exchange for his freedom.  Archneid was about to make a choice when the cartel's guards burst into the room and accidentally killed Heglewood in their attempt to shoot Archneid. (See: Archneid, Chess.)
HERMES
Identity: Thadd Glasce
Affiliation: leader of the Resistance Movement.
Leader of a group of resistance fighters on Quartz's hoem alternate version of Earth.  As a child Thadd slipped through his government's mandatory neural conditioning program without receiving any treatment.  He eventually came to question it and realized that it was used to keep the populace of his planet docile.  He disagreed with this skirting of free will and set about to bring it to an end.  He began seeking out others who were similarly unconditioned and within a decade began staging raids on government installations to steal information about the conditioning process in order to determine a way to reverse it.  He became known as Hermes, after the Greek god of communication.  His research was aided by two scientific prodigies, G.  Stuart and D. Read, who absorbed all the knowledge they stole and began experimenting with ways to guard against government detection.  They discovered that they could block detection and manipulation completely via a neural web surrounding the brain.  However, the web was most effective when put in place from birth and allowed to grow along with the subject.  If this was done, it completely circumvented neural detection by putting out a false identity signal designed to fool the detection devices.  The web could also prevent neural manipulation, could prevent the subject from revealing any information about the resistance against his will and would kill the subject if tampered with.  For adults, however, the webs were only powerful enough to block long-distance detection.  They used the web on their own children to make certain that it worked.  They then began using it on babies they liberated from the government's own experimentation labs.  These became the next generation of resistance fighters.  Hermes eventually got sloppy and his image was captured while he lead some of their raids.  When one of the Quartzman Guard recognized him in the city of Norfolke, Hermes was forced to flee in an airship.  When his ship passed by an ancient crystal tower on the Norfolke University campus, he was ripped through the dimensional fabric and hurtled back in time, arriving in the past of our world. His adventures there have not yet been fully chronicled.  (See Quartz, Mentor.)
HIGHER POWER, THE
Status: Disbanded, but having second thoughts.
Drenn, tired of beating his head against a wall in his attempts to get the Ascended Masters to do anything about abuse of power and rules violations among the other members of the Ascended, decided to do something about it himself.  Along with Jacob Sand, Lady Gothica and Kindred Spirit, he formed the Higher Power.  Modeled somewhat on Earth's London Hill, the Higher Power sought to keep the balance of power in the universe somewhat level.  To their cause, they also recruited a time traveling young earth woman named Omega, who Sand and Gothica had met back on earth in the late nineteenth century.  She and Drenn soon became lovers.  Their final accomplishment, however, was in putting a stop to Drenn's longtime enemy Mologox.  They had planned to simply imprison him within a physical form and sever his control of it, effectively placing him in a coma and allowing him to die on his own or be killed by the very servants he had enslaved for centuries.  However, Omega insisted on giving it even more finality, and she killed Mologox.  When the Ascended Masters took notice of this, Drenn took the blame for Mologox's death and suffered the same comatose fate as he would have given his enemy.  The Ascended Masters also forbade the others in the Higher Power from continuing their efforts, stating that they themselves would be taking a more active role in policing the Ascended.  Omega departed, swearing she would have nothing more to do with Sand because he prevented her from taking the blame and saving Drenn.  Kindred Spirit became a free-agent adventurer and began taking subcontracting jobs for other cosmic organizations.  Jacob Sand and Lady Gothica stayed together for a while longer, but eventually went their separate ways due to conflicts that stemmed from their time with the Higher Power.  There are rumors abounding, however, that the Higher Power may not have seen their final days and that a new alliance may be in the offing.  (See: Drenn, Omega/Madam Z, The Ascended, Mologox, Jacob Sand, Lady Gothica, Higher Power, Kindred Spirit, Calhoun.)
HILLS OF LONDON
The name of London Hill's former front company, a publishing house/bookshop located on London's Tensington Street.  Beneath the shop lay the catacombs of London Hill's headquarters called Topside.  The day to day operations of Hills of London were managed primarily by Lincoln Throneby, who inherited the position from his father Trevor.  In 1994, Throneby decided to retire from active operative status.  He wished to settle down and publish small important projects so Gareth Marter gave him full ownership of the Hills of London presses and equipment, provided that he relocate.  Throneby moved the works to Windsor.  The former location was converted into a pub called Top's that is run by retired London Hill operative Newkirk.  (See London Hill, Topside.)
HOLM, H. "BERTI"
Proprietor of the East Wellington Junk & Salvage Yard.  He and his wife Lanie live in the same apartment building as Leo Keys.  Owns a goat named Frank which sometimes speaks.
HOPSCOTCH
Identity: Joe C. Evans
Affiliation: The Ten.  Avatar III
Active from 1988-Present.  In June of 1987, just before his seventeenth birthday, Joe Evans was on a trip to Canada with his high-school marching band.  While visiting an old church, just outside of Quebec, he happened upon a secret room and discovered a magic staff and boots.  These turned out to be weapons of the legendary group The Ten.  The staff allowed him the ability to teleport and turn invisible and, when worn, the boots allowed him to walk unhindered on any surface regardless of its physical orientation and gave him the ability to leap great distances.  Using these weapons, Joe decided to become a part-time super hero.  Seeing little need for a super-hero in his home-town of Starkville, Mississippi, Joe waited until his college days at New Auckland University before further using his powers.  It wasn't until the summer of 1990 that he began to actively pursue a career as a super-hero, calling himself Hopscotch.  After a few encounters with other super-heroes in the New Auckland/Wellington area, he joined with them to form a third incarnation of Avatar.  During one of their early adventures, Hopscotch encountered two other members of The Ten.  They were Snipe and Scarlet Knight, members of the then Chess-employed criminal team, the Mastermen.  For reasons not then known, Snipe took a special dislike to Hopscotch and was actively seeking to kill him.  Some months later, Avatar was sent back in time to the early 1100's where Hopscotch encountered and fought a previous bearer of Snipe's weapons.  This caused the original animosity that carried over into Snipe's weapons.  In 1992, Hopscotch met a predecessor of his named Weldon, in a dream.  Weldon implied that Hopscotch had the ability to see glimpses of future events and that this was a talent that the staff and boots usually sought out in their bearers.  Soon after the dream, Hopscotch did indeed begin dreaming of possible future events.  In early 1995, Hopscotch learned even more about the heritage of his weapons after he was kidnapped by Philip Durmont, a former operative for London Hill, who planned to use the weapons in a ritual that would return magick to the earth.  Hopscotch was instrumental in defeating him, in part thanks to his precognitive abilities.  He has since began daily meditations in order to develop this power further.  (See: Avatar III; The Ten; Snipe.)
HOWARD
Full Name: Unknown
Affiliation: Associate member of London Hill
Little is known about Howard, the mysterious bartender of the Langley, Ohio, bar called Hooligans.  He is almost certainly ex-military of some sort, quite possibly a medic, for his knowledge of combat medicine is extensive.  It is known that he is at least an associate member of London Hill who aids their agent Bizmarck.  He is also familiar with the Native American vigilante, Neshoba.  (See: London Hill; Bizmarck; Neshoba, Gangbusters.)
HUGHNEN
Alias: Annoying Kid
Affiliation: The Mastermen
Hughnen and his brother Ephemeris, were first encountered by Juice in an alleyway near a cathedral that had been the site for a three-way battle between Avatar, the Mastermen and the Canons.  Hughnen was observed to create illusions which he used to toy with Juice, prompting the hero to dub him "Annoying Kid."  The illusions were later determined to be mental in nature, as well as difficult to trace back to their source.  Disappeared after a battle on Xandar McDougal's island but reappeared, along with Ghost Kid and Xandar himself in early 1995.  Avatar mentalist, Mobius, is unaffected by Hughnen's illusions.  (See: The Mastermen.)
HUMAN SPRING
Identity: Patient's personal information is confidential
Man who acted as a costumed adventurer in Springfield, Massachusetts.  Bounced around on slinky shoes.  He was eventually hospitalized due to mental instability.  Was on speaking terms with Inspector Tomlinson.
HUNTSMAN, THE
Identity: Lost to History
Affiliation: The Ten
The Huntsman was the chosen name of one of the former bearers of the Crossbow and Amulet, weapons of The Ten, that were eventually inherited by Snipe.   Hopscotch of Avatar III once traveled back in time to the year 1191 where he engaged in combat with The Huntsman, defeating him soundly.  This action caused a grudge to form between the Huntsman's Cross & Amulet and Hopscotch's Staff & Boots.  The Huntsman went on to attempt to seek vengeance on Hopscotch's weapon bearing predecessor, Weldon, and was soundly thrashed again, strengthening the hatred between the weapons.  This cross-centuries grudge match continued after Snipe inherited the Cross & Amulet in the early 1990s.  (See: The Ten, Snipe, Hopscotch, Weldon.)
IMPACT
Identity: Max Jacobs
Affiliation: SILO Special Operations Unit
Active 1994 - Present.  Young university student and inventive genius recruited by SILO Labs during his Freshman year.  He was the inventor of a new kinetic pulse device.  He insisted on incorporating it into an armored suit and employing that suit himself, unaided.  He proved to be a fairly effective member of the SSO.  (See SILO Special Operations Unit.)
INFERNO
Identity:  Unknown.
Affiliations: Rapier, Chess
Inferno is literally a man afire.  Flames course around his body, and he can project these into powerful fireball explosions.  He can also concentrate these pulses into intense beams of heat.  Inferno is infernally polite for a 'bad-guy' and has been known to apologize to downed opponents as he flies away.  (See: Rapier; Avatar III.)
INFINITUM
Identity: Unknown
Affiliations: Mastermen, Chess
Status: Deceased
Infinitum was a being of tremendous mental power who was banished from her dimensional reality because of her aberrant behavior.  She was forced through a variety of dimensions before arriving in our own.  She and her companion, an energy being named Tachyon whom she picked up during her journey, joined the ranks of a group of paranormals called the Mastermen.  She became adversaries with Avatar mentalist, Mobius, and was determined to learn which of them was the better.  However, she was killed during a three-way battle with the Chess team, The Canons.  Her body was taken from the New Auckland morgue and a grave for her was later found on Xandar McDougal's island.  Some beings from her particular alternate earth popped through New Auckland's Pinnacle node in 1995.  This was due to dimensional instability caused by the presence of an alternate Avatar III.  They were handily defeated by the real Avatar III and presumably sent back to their dimension by Xandar McDougal.  (See: Xandar McDougal, Mastermen; Thud; Avatar III, Canons.)
JENKINS, LT. COL. SAMUEL
Affiliations: Former Marine Colonel, retired; SILO Labs
Ex-military, advisor in charge of finding SILO security expert, Lennard, who was presumably kidnapped by Chess.  He does not like civilians such as Avatar III, getting involved in the investigation, though he has sometimes been forced, by Regional Director Dr. Duncan Reed, to endure them.  His current status is unknown, but he is no longer in SILO's governing hierarchy due to suspicions by President Glennis Stewart. (See: SILO Labs.)
JUICE: THE ENERGY GUY
Identity: Eric W. Fritzius
Affiliation: Avatar III
Early in his Freshman year at NAU, Eric Fritzius was riding home on his scooter when he encountered a large black space craft and was accidentally killed when the beings from the craft attempted to lift his scooter from the road.  He awoke some weeks later to find that his consciousness had been placed into a new body made out of a wholly amazing black energy substance that allowed him super-human powers.  This being the case, he opted to become a super-hero, taking the name Juice: The Energy Guy, and soon joined with three other college age New Auckland heroes to form Avatar III.  Months later, the aliens responsible for his condition returned and kidnapped him again.  The aliens, called Tentricconians, seemed completely surprised that he was at all conscious, as they had originally believed their attempt to transfer his consciousness from his original dying body into the new one a failure and had abandoned it.  They explained that his body was made of a technology called 5thMatter which could adopt properties of a solid, liquid, gas or plasma depending on what its central processing unit required.  They agreed to let him keep the body, as they were terribly embarrassed that they had been attempting to ask him directions before accidentally killing him months before.  In 1992, Juice was struck by lightning, which caused his body's form to break down and separate into two globular segments, each containing a portion of his memories and personality.  One of these was located by Avatar III while another was found and kept by three Wellington children.  The children's segment contained the majority of Juice's faculties and was the first to reconstruct itself into a humanoid figure.  The other segment seemed on the verge of dissipating when it was possessed and stolen by the non-corporeal being Calhoun who decided to use it as his new body.  (Events clouded by history destabilizer ray.)  Powers:  Due to his 5thMatter body, Juice can fly, fire stun beams, hurl area-affecting "stun grenades", use force and tractor beams, hurl opponent entangling energy globs, and create a force-field around himself.  He sustains himself by converting common matter into 5thMatter which is instantly absorbed by his body.  He is able to shift his shape into that of his former-self, Eric.  In this form he can appear to wear any type of clothing he wishes, as long as he wishes it during the transformation.  He is weakened and caused pain by electromagnetic fields and electromagnetic attacks and has been known to accidentally switch back into his natural Juice form from his Eric form while in such fields.  Recently, Juice has learned that he has the ability to shift his shape into other personages than Eric and has been practicing this ability to great skill.  He has only died three times since joining.  (See: Alison Fritzius, 5thMatter, Avatar III, Tentriccia, Calhoun.)
KENNER, SEN. RICHARD

KEYS, LEO
Sneak-thief friend of Curry.  His brother, Hawk, is a small time stolen goods fence.
KINDRED SPIRIT
Identity: Unknown
Affiliations: The Ascended, formerly a member of The Higher Power
The origins of the man called Kindred Spirit are unknown.  He does seem to have a penchant for Earth attire and living conditions, but it is suspect as to whether or not he is originally from Earth.  He dresses in a decidedly dirty trench coat, wears an unpressed suit and a battered, burned fedora that has seen better days.  He smokes cigars, (the specific brand is unknown,) and can seemingly pull them pre-lit from within his grubby coat.  It is known that he has an association with the London Hill operative, Bizmarck, whom he apparently owed a favor to at one time.  Kindred Spirit, or Kin as he is called by friends, can appear and disappear at will, though only when no one is observing him.  He is also able to assume a tall, dark, hooded, deep-voiced and mysterious form in which he can be extremely imposing.  While the degree of actual power he possesses is uncertain, it is known that Kin is familiar with several back-alleys to the laws of time and space and has no problem with using them.  He enjoys "setting things right" though he usually does not have a hand in the actual "setting" part.  He prefers to rely on operatives who he more-or-less drafts into service. (See: The Ascended, The Higher Power, Elvis Presley.)

Operated from 1963-1973.  Asian wife of Swashbuckler II.  Born in Japan, Mai Takagi grew up training in a variety of martial arts with her younger brother Seung, whom she was always much better than, to his dismay.  During his late teens, Seung accidentally drew the ire of an agent of one of the older houses of Asia's Chess crime empire.  The agent, called Thorn, killed Seung needlessly.  To avenge his death, Mai swore to track this man until he was dead.  Her quest lead her across Europe and eventually to the American city of New Auckland, Virginia.  There her path crossed with that of Thadeus Glass, the second Swashbuckler, who was on his sabbatical from leading Avatar II to continue his graduate studies.  Although they took an immediate dislike to one another, they soon found themselves in love.  With Avatar's help, Mai located the assassin.  Instead of killing him, Mai cut off his hands and threw them into New Auckland harbor before calling Interpol.  She left the country, returning in 1963 at Glass's request.  The two were married and a year later she joined Avatar taking the name used by Glass's sister, Lady Blade.  Used a variation of the original Lady Blade's costume. (See: Mentor, Avatar II.)
LADY GOTHICA
Identity: Liana Gothecaliste
Affiliation: Order Magestic/London Hill, Avatar I, The Higher Power.
Operated from 1786-????.  Born in 1758 London to a wealthy aristocratic family, she took up exploring the unknown by joining the cabalistic Order Magestic.  She met Jacob sand in 1786 and traveled with him on his adventures for many decades  before realizing that while in his presence she had ceased to age.  In 1916, she helped Sand bring together several New Auckland vigilantes to form the first incarnation of Avatar, and was responsible for naming it.  Gothica was known for wearing an enormous flowing black cloak and always appeared to be about thirty years of age.  She was proficient at hand to hand combat and often carried a pistol when with Avatar.  She spoke with a heavy English accent.  She, Sand and one of his Ascended associates, Drenn, traveled the world together for a few years after Avatar disbanded in 1928, then they left Earth altogether.  They, along with Kindred Spirit and a young time-displaced woman named Omega, took to adventuring among the cosmos as The Higher Power.  The Higher Power was eventually forced to disband by the Ascended Masters and Gothica left Jacob Sand shortly after that.  In 1992, the Ascended Masters decided to use Gothica as a leverage against Jacob Sand by imprisoning her in order to prevent him from interfering after Calhoun returned to earth.  Whether he followed the letter of their law remains to be seen.  Gothica's current whereabouts are unknown.  (See Jacob Sand; Avatar I; London Hill; Higher Power; Drenn; Kindred Spirit; Omega/Madam Z; Mologox, Calhoun.)

Is the best there is.  Has designed security systems world wide.  Was kidnapped, presumably by Chess, during the summer of 1995, but was revealed to have willingly arranged for his kidnapping in order to assist Rapier in cracking Chess' security systems.  Rapier had decided they could no longer remain in Chess' employ and were looking to bring the organization down to prevent their continued collusion with potential alien invaders.  As a show of good faith to Avatar in order to prove their good intent, Rapier returned Lennard to SILO New Auckland. LONDON HILL
Alias: Order Magestic
Alias: Hills of London.
Rumored to have been formed by the wizard, Merlin, as a cabalistic order comprised of wise men and warriors of the lands, for the purposes of seeking knowledge, and rooting out and destroying evil.  Originally called the Order Magestic, London Hill has survived through the ages, gathering much information and going through various incarnations.  They headquartered themselves in a series of underground tunnels and habitats beneath a section of London.  This area has become known as Topside.  By the late 19th century the organization was under the auspices of a man called Osgood, who took London Hill's role away from most of its mystical aspects and toward a more espionage-oriented role, often assisting the British government.  He recruited many new agents, including a boy named Gareth Marter.  Osgood was killed during the Blitzkrieg of World War II when Topside was destroyed.  He was replaced by Marter, who relocated London Hill to the English countryside and dedicated London Hill to overthrowing the axis powers.  After the war, he had Topside rebuilt and commanded from there as London Hill's leader until his death in 1994.  It is speculated that London Hill serves as a mirror of the Original Fall From Heaven because of its periodic overthrow and redemption from the forces of evil.  When this occurs, forces from within the organization assume control of it and are then forcibly ejected from the group, only to form a splinter group and continue.  One such splinter group is the earthbound version of The Spirit Syndicate.  The most recent split occurred in 1994.  London Hill's effectiveness had began to decay.  The organization was not keeping up with the times after "Sly" Peter Devlin assumed command of the organization following the death of longtime London Hill commander, Gareth Marter.  Operative Philip Durmont and a group of fellow agents and mercenaries loyal to him overthrew Devlin and assumed control of London Hill.  Only due to the efforts of a small group of counter-revolutionaries, lead by Morris Gleason, did London Hill return to the proper hands.  Durmont and many of his followers escaped and formed the Durmont Collective.  Since then, Morris Gleason has taken command of London Hill and has begun a redesign of its internal workings that will hopefully strengthen it for the new millennium.  London Hill has agents world-wide, often positioned at strategic mystical points.  (See: the Spirit Syndicate; the Durmont Collective; Mr. Fear; "Sly" Peter Devlin; Philip Durmont; Gleason; Bizmarck; Julian Abercrombi.)
